HYBE Corporation's popular girl group, LE SSERAFIM, just released their fifth extended play (EP) HOT on March 14 this year. The group debuted in 2022 and currently consists of members Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Sakura, and Hong Eunchae. Their new EP consists of five tracks, with their title track being "HOT." Fans online have been very excited over the EP's 80s vibe concept and their fun dances that reminisce the first generations of K-pop. Here's a review of each track on the EP.

"Born Fire"

In "Born Fire," each member alternates to narrate the story of a flame that burns out, and fades into ashes, but is later rekindled. This reciprocates the main theme of the EP, which is the message of being willing to jump into what you love with no hesitation. I personally really enjoy all of Hybe artists' intros and outros, and "Born Fire" is not an exception. I would rate this track four out of five stars.

"HOT"

"HOT" is this EP's title track, and it's definitely one of my favorite tracks. It's catchy and melodic, with a retro-esque beat that just creates the perfect mix. They have also released an English version of this song, as well as various remixes on Spotify.

The versatility of this song was definitely a reason it made it on so many of my playlists. I really love "HOT" and I rate it five out of five stars!

"Come Over"

"Come Over" is an upbeat, 80's throwback style song that is very uplifting and catchy. This song has both fast and repetitive parts, as well as dreamy nu-jazz vibes blended together. I enjoyed the concept for the dances and stage presence for this song too, with the impressive choreography and formations. Overall, I would rate this song four out of five stars.

"Ash"

"Ash" displays LE SSERAFIM members' vocals beautifully, featuring lines with high notes, soft connotations, and flowing melodies. Its dreamy chorus paired with the strong beat in the background is a great mix that I really enjoy listening to. I would rate "Ash" a four and a half out of five stars.

"So Cynical (Badum)"

I love "So Cynical (Badum)" so much that it has already become my top-played track on Spotify this month! The song features a catchy Jersey club and house beat, in addition to smooth singing melodies. The track was co-written by LE SSERAFIM members Hun Yunjin, Kim Chaewon, and Hong Eunchae, which makes the song even more special. I would definitely rate this song a full five out of five stars!

"HOT" Music Video

For their title track, "HOT," LE SSERAFIM members also starred in a music video for this track. It embraces a bold take on love, reflecting the main objective of the song. The music video has a very retro and polaroid camera vibe, which I really liked.

I'm not the best at identifying storylines in a music video, but I did love the overall concept of this music video, along with their dance and performances paired with their costumes. The music video for "HOT" has already gained over 25 million views on YouTube and seven million streams on Spotify.

Overall Review

This EP overall would receive a full five out of five stars from me. From the stunning concepts and stage elements to the well-written tracks and lyrics, LE SSERAFIM did not disappoint with this comeback. I strongly encourage readers to listen to some of these tracks on HOT or check out videos of their live performances on YouTube or social media. Happy listening, everyone!
