From Kai Trump’s weekly vlogs to Melania Trump’s new memoir Melania, the Trumps aren’t the most mysterious figures. But when it comes to Barron Trump, they’ve done their best to keep him under the radar.

Staying under the radar hasn’t stopped Gen Z from noticing him. Starting NYU as a freshman just last year, let’s just say Barron’s college career debuted in quite a unique way. It was only two months ago that Barron unintentionally became Tiktok’s latest celebrity with his “I like my suitcase” CNN Video. NYU students assert that it’s become a running joke among students at the University— one Tiktok user confirmed, “everyone at NYU is repeating this through the halls.”
Speculation about Barron hasn’t begun here, though. In 2019, Barron was rumored to have a secret Roblox account (gaming app) against his family’s discretion. If you ask me, this one sounds a bit far-fetched–but it’s hard to not take an interest in Trump’s 6’7’’ son (this fact alone is enough to spur media interest). As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and this is certainly the case for Barron, who has largely stayed away from social media, live events, and public addresses .

Take the Quiz: What Kind of Political Personality Are You?
Ever wondered what role you’d play in the political world? Take this fun quiz to find out!
Cementing his Role in the Trump Legacy
Barron’s quiet image seems to be changing, with him seemingly emerging as a less passive figure in Trump’s presidency. Barron's appearance at the presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025, has gained headlines and lipreaders to decipher his every word. From a secretive conversation with Joe Biden, to Trump's claim that he helped "win the youth vote," it seems Barron may be ready to carve out a more defined role within the Trump Legacy. And so far, no one –regardless of political standpoint--is complaining.
What might have seemed like a simple act of camaraderie on Barron’s part, is becoming a major source of media speculation. The presidential inauguration marked a historical day for U.S. citizens, but what’s got all of the media captivated is Barron— though we still may have not heard his voice, there’s certainly something about Barron on this inauguration that’s got the media in a frenzy.
Barron was seen shaking former President Biden and Vice President Harris in a clip on inauguration day, and people have never been quicker to analyze this seemingly boring moment. Conservatives on platforms like X, TikTok, and YouTube have given Barron major pats on the back for this gesture, and there’s been quite some noise about Barron as a future U.S. president, but if you ask me: this is likely more rumor than fact. Nevertheless, Barron’s introduction by Trump credited Barron for more than we thought capable.

Barron's playbook: Scoring the Youth Vote
Then there’s the youth vote. As Trump stated in his introduction of his “very tall son,” Barron was actually the one who urged Trump to go on the well-known podcast The Joe Rogan Experience . This apparently would gain the youth vote for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. Many Republicans claim this act was ‘smarter than Harris’ in speaking to younger audiences and have titled Barron as ‘internet king’.
For someone who’s stayed out of the spotlight for most of his life, Barron is suddenly everywhere, and while a lot about him remains a mystery, I have a feeling that the inauguration won’t be the last we hear of the Trump family's youngest. And one thing is clear: the media’s fascination with him will only continue to grow.
