What Are the Blackpink Members Up to Now?

Music & Podcasts

October 13, 2024

The world held its breath as BLACKPINK's contract termination date drew nearer and nearer. No one was sure what the outcome would be. Would the BLACKPINK we love finally be disbanded? Or will they stay together?

The announcement was what no one could have expected. Of course, the girls, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, managed to not disappoint. They terminated their solo contracts but kept the group contract under YG Entertainment. This means that while BLACKPINK as individuals would not produce their music with YG, they would agree to stay as a group, as BLACKPINK.

Of course, the news spread out like anything else BLACKPINK is involved with - like wildfire.

Not soon after, the members started launching their own labels, one by one. BLINKS (BLACKPINK's fanbase) saw a whole new side to them previously unseen: BLACKPINK members as CEOs. This seemed like the next stage for BLACKPINK.

Where would their individual paths take them next? What are Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa up to?

Turns out, a lot of things.

Jisoo has started to focus more on the movie industry instead of producing music. After launching her label, BLISOO, she began filming for various K-dramas. Some of these K-dramas include Newtopia (scheduled for 2025), which is a story about star-crossed lovers set in a world plagued by zombies.

Another notable film project is Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, which is an upcoming film developed from a popular Webtoon series. The cast is star-studded, with Lee Minho and Ahn Hyoseop starring beside Jisoo. In more recent news, Jisoo has been spotlighted in September's Marie Claire Korea issue. Jisoo has certainly been busy, and BLINKS cannot wait to see her shine!

Jennie, meanwhile, has recently begun to tease exciting content. Her new single, “Mantra,” was released on October 11th through her label, ODDATELIER and Columbia Records. She performed “Mantra” on the show ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ as well as on “M Countdown,” scoring a win for the latter. Her comeback on “M Countdown” comes after her last appearance in 2016. Jennie has hinted at an album soon. Hopefully, it is on the way!

Rosé is set to be the first member of the group to release a full-length solo album. Titled rosie, the album comes out on December 6th, 2024, just in time for the winter season. However, she will release a duet called “APT.” with Bruno Mars on October 17th, 2024 before her new album. While Rosé has not created her own label, she has joined THEBLACKLABEL and signed with the Atlantic Record Company for her solo ventures. In recent times, she released a cover of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" for the K-drama Pachinko, and is the newly minted ambassador of Puma.

BLACKPINK's maknae (youngest member in the group), Lisa, has been busy dropping singles left and right with her label LLOUD. “Rockstar” was released during the summer, showing BLINKS Lisa's edgy side. She also has released a collaboration single with the artist ROSALÍA called “New Woman.” She unveiled her newest single, “Moonlit Floor” at the 2024 Global Citizen Festival, and dropped it on streaming platforms in early October of 2024. The lyrics talk about the singer falling for a French boy, hinting at a possible confirmation of her alleged relationship with Frédéric Arnault, the son of CEO Bernard Arnault.

On the other hand, Lisa has performed “Rockstar” and “New Woman” at the 2024 VMAs and took home a VMA for the Best K-Pop award. She is set to make her acting debut with The White Lotus (season 3) on the platform HBO in 2025. To sum up this impressive list of Lisa's recent activities, she recently made headlines quite literally being the face of the September issue of Elle.

Overall, the members of BLACKPINK have been creating their unique pathways through music, acting, and fashion. BLACKPINK itself is scheduled for a comeback in 2025 along with a world tour. All that we as BLINKS can do is wait, and watch BLACKPINK's Born Pink tour movie in the meantime!
