Wednesday Season 2: What We Know so Far & Fan Theories

TV & Film

Wed, March 19

Netflix’s Wednesday (2022) follows Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega. She joins Nevermore Academy after being expelled from her previous school. She begins struggling there and soon gets involved in murder mysteries.

She experiences visions, as her mother does, and these visions help guide her in solving the mysteries. She does not open herself up to friendship, but after learning the concepts of care and love, she makes friends like Enid, Eugene, and Xavier. Wednesday discovers that Joseph Crackstone, a historical figure, wanted to exterminate outcasts and has a connection to her ancestor, Goody Addams.

Season 1 concludes with a highly suspenseful moment, and the eight episodes do not capture the essence of an authentic Wednesday series. Therefore, there is a great need for a second season.

Cast and Characters

Like in the previous season, Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday Addams. Notably, Lady Gaga is set to make a cameo appearance. Like last season, the cast includes Emma Myres as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, and Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin.

New additions to the cast include Thandiwe Newton, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Joanna Lumley as Grandma and Billie Piper. Xavier Thorpe by Percy Hynes White is not cast for Wednesday next season.

Why Did Xavier Leave "Wednesday Addams"?

Xavier Thorpe, a character portrayed by Percy Hynes White, will not be returning for next Wednesday's season. Netflix themselves confirmed that he departed due to a sexual assault allegation from an anonymous woman in January 2023 on X (formerly Twitter). In light of the allegations, Netflix decided not to bring Hynes White back for season 2.

Tyler and Wednesday in Season 2

It seems unlikely that both will get together in Wednesday's second season. Tyler's betrayal and Hyde's identity are likely to hinder any romantic connection; however, they may still maintain a strong friendship and rely on each other’s abilities as they work closely together to solve cases without engaging in any romantic relationship.

Nonetheless, the season 2 teaser will either confirm these suggestions or depict Tyler in a psychiatric facility, indicating a focus on his internal struggles with Hyde. When Wednesday learns about Tyler being a Hyde, she loses all her romantic feelings for him.

Season 2 will focus on mysteries, darkest secrets, villain entries, and horror instead of showing a romantic relationship.

Plot Expectations

The new season of Wednesday Addams features darker storylines with fresh characters. Season 2 is expected to get deeper into Wednesday's character and how she explores Nevermore Academy. It delves deeper into the supernatural realm. Netflix revealed the name of the first episode of Season 2, "Here We Woe Again," saying more torture awaits.

However, the second episode of Wednesday Season 1 is based on the famous 1998 song by the band Filter, "One is the Loneliest Number." The creators rephrased it into "Woe is the Loneliest Number."

I think the same phenomenon repeated in the first episode of Season 2—maybe it is named after the common English phrase "Here we go again." If this is true, then the first episode of Wednesday, Season 2, continues the same events left in the last episode of Season 1. But I am not sure—maybe it's my understanding.

Fan Theories

Many fan theories resemble one from the last episode of season 1, where the ring of Crackstone falls to the ground. Fans ponder the question: does someone pick it up? The second theory concerns Wednesday's transformation as Hyde's master.

Since she defeated Hyde, it may be possible that she will become the next Hyde controller. Fans speculate that in the next season of Wednesday season, another character from the Addams family will appear in the next season of Wednesday. This theory is confirmed as true through "Grandma". Another theory revolves around Professor Weems's life, as she falls to the ground in the eighth episode, yet her funeral is not shown.

Conclusion

Wednesday's season 2 is set to be released by Netflix in 2025. Fans from all over the world are waiting for its launch. The new season gives a deeper journey of Nevermore Academy, and the upcoming season promises to deliver more mystery, horror, and gothic charm. Hopefully, the next season will uncover the hidden secrets and evolve her psychic abilities!
