If you’ve been anywhere on social media, you’ve definitely heard of all of the fashion girls talking abou the “Stockholm Style.”
The Stockholm Style is one of the evolutions to branch from the Clean Girl aesthetic. To describe it, it’s the practical and chic sister of the basic “Clean Girl” with lots of neutral shades, layering, and a relaxed vibe.

If you’re trying to nail the Stockholm Style vibe, there’s nowhere better than to look than the internet’s favorite fashion trend generator, Princess Polly.

Princess Polly has been the it girls of fashion’s go-to spot since forever, and for good reason. With a good eye for capturing what’s the vibe and for bringing out designs that feel and look flattering, you can’t but help be obsessed with the way Princess Polly looks on you.

I’ve been following the Stockholm Style trend on apps like Pinterest and TikTok. It’s easy to know what looks good when you see it on your feed, but it’s not so easy to know how to style and put together such outfits. To put that worry to rest, Princess Polly’s stylist, Danielle DeHardt, gave us some amazing tips on putting together some chic, viral-worthy outfits.
Without further ado, below are our favorite picks for a summer look following the iconic Stockholm Style:

You know what they say: less is more. And when it comes to fashion, that may just be the key. Having an all-over pattern can be exciting, but it also raises risks of becoming extremely outdated in trends. Believe me, I’ve been there!

“To nail the Stockholm summer style, start with effortless layers and stick to base colors (no out-there prints for this look!),” advises Danielle. “The trend is all about balancing practicality with chic simplicity.”
One of my favorite ways to really embrace the advice is to go with a top that’s minimal but still has a fun way of displaying personality, whether that be through color, texture, or a small detail that doesn’t drag it down to microtrendland.

I love the Brando Cami Top in Hot Pink for a good versatile piece. Wear it when you’re lounging on a Sunday morning with a pair of snuggly sweats, or even pair it with your favorite low-rise jeans for that “I-just-threw-on-an-outfit-but-I-still-look-fab” feel. Plus, that hot pink? We’re totally obsessed.

I also adore the Tari Tube Top in White; it’s the sweetest girl-next-door energy with the pointelle fabric and mini bow at the center of the sweetheart neckline. This definitely makes the “simplicity” checklist with how easily it fits in with any outfit pairing. Whether you pack it for a European Summer or a lunch date in the city, this piece is always a cutie.

Last but certainly not least, the Off to Amalfi Strapless Top in Pink is the absolute summer staple. This tube top makes for a pretty in pink moment with a strapless design that seems minimal at first glance, but is filled with lacey floral designs all over. I’m usually one to be against full-on texture, but this tank top is designed in a way that feels classy to withstand the ever-changing trends.

Tip #2: Maintain A Tone
You know the fashion girls are always stressing about going for something monochrome and elegant to make sure it doesn’t easily fall victim to the “outdated trends pile.”

The worst is when something you’ve bought quickly turns to “cringe”-- but a simple neutral outfit is always the easiest way to do it. “When in doubt, opt for monochrome outfits in neutral tones,” emphasizes Danielle.
Some great neutral shades to start with are black, navy, and various shades of grays– but pops of white can be a true winner. If you’re looking to show off a good summer tan, you can’t go wrong with the Makena Strapless Bodysuit in White. This textured top looks so flattering on, and with all the wave-like textures, it makes for the perfect staple piece for when you want to add something extra to your look without overdoing it all.

Even when you’re going out, your party dress can still look put-together for different occasions. I love a good LBD, and the Lanier Mini Dress is the embodiment of a little black dress out on the prowl for a memorable night. With its stargirl energy, halter neck, ribbon-attached keyhole at the bust, and a waist-hugging skater skirt, it’s easily the main character. Even then, it doesn’t have to go to the bin after your party weekends. “The Lanier Mini Dress can be easily layered with a blazer to create a sophisticated, cohesive look and it will live in your capsule wardrobe season after season,” says Danielle.

On that note, building a capsule wardrobe is truly everything that you need- and that can’t be complete without a good silhouette-flattering formal shirt. On theme with the “office siren” trend, I love the Anni Pinstripe Shirt in White because it defies the “trendiness” while still being chic and in style. With a sweet striped look, sophisticated button-up, waist-cinching and exaggerated sleeves look, it’s the kind of shirt that’ll make you excited to show up confident and ready to seize the day.
Tip #3: Casually Dress It Up
Fashion is all about playing dress up, and the Stockholm Style certainly doesn’t neglect that. While the outfits stay on the tamer side, the accessories and pairing of outfits can make or break an outfit.

Defeating the expected norm in little ways can be a fun way to create interesting dimensions in a look. “Stockholm style is about casual elegance. Choose comfortable yet stylish pieces like the versatile Selby Mini Skirt with a cute tee such as the Edenia Tee and finish the look with sleek accessories—think minimal jewelry and clean, white sneakers,” advises Danielle.

The Edenia Tee is the epitome of a classic European-inspired, chic baby tee, but it’s so fun to bring a new side to such a playful look with the equally flirty yet somewhat serious Selby Skirt. I love how the shirt is so colorful and uses “postcards” as a way to show off holiday locations.

I’m also obsessed with the way the Selby can pair with just about anything- even the Elixia Bodysuit in Leopard. Leopard print is such a vibe for nights out, and the Elixia Bodysuit sure knows how to have fun with a deep v-neck and an almost-sheer-like look. This is about to make your wildest fantasies truly wild.

The Selby can also pair with something more on the feminine, sweet style– like the Pria Top in Blue. This beautiful cami top features a porcelain-like print all over a silky baby blue, and with the floral print all over, you just can’t help but be drawn to its romantic, lovely design. Perfect for a date night, all this needs it a good accessorizing with some bracelets and a kitten heel.

Even then, the outfits can still be “funky” but maintain a classic feel. Meet the Daydreaming Gingham Set in Red and White- it’s as classic as it gets with a red and white checkerprint, but it’s still cutting-edge with a y2k cami top and sweet little mini skirt. With ribbons and lace in focus points, it’s just a romantic daydream come to life. I mean, this is the outfit for a summer picnic!
