We're all waiting for the new season of Squid Game, Stranger Things, and Ginny and Georgia, but in the meantime, fans have to pass time somehow. And sometimes, the best shows and movies are overlooked by fans waiting for new seasons. That being said, here are the hottest TV shows and movies to binge-watch in April.

Maturity Rating: PG-13
Movie
Genre: Sci-fi
I'll admit that this movie has found an array of harsh critic backlash. On RottomTomatoes, it only has a 15% critic rating, meaning it's rotten (in this case, 15% is extraordinarily rotten). However, considering its audience rating is 75%, it may just mean the critics were too....well, critical.
Set in an alternate reality of what the 1990s could've looked like, Michelle (Milly Bobby Brown), must rescue her brother in with the aid of Cosmo, a robot. In this world, a war with robots and humans has caused robots to be outlawed and banished into the exclusion zone, therefore making Cosmo an 'outlaw' along with Michelle.
It's worth noting The Electric State is based off the book of the same name written by Simon Stalenhag. And if the low ratings have your doubts? Just watch it to see if the critics were doing their job right.

A Man on The Inside (2024)
Maturity Rating: TV-14
TV Show
Genre: Comedy
This is definitely a more light hearted series, in contrast to the Electric State. We follow Charles (Ted Danson, known for Cheers), who decides to go undercover at a nursing home to solve a theft. He's essentially on an undercover mission, just one safer than one of Carmen Sandiego's feats.
This is only a season with 8 episodes, so get ready to speed through it. Oh, and its optimistic 96% critic and 91% audience score bodes well, so get your popcorn ready! (scores from RottenTomatoes)

Plankton: The Movie (2025)
Maturity Rating: PG
Movie
Genre: Comedy/Animation
Okay, okay, this one's a little ridiculous, but if you want to go to the good old days of watching SpongeBob with a bowl of Coco Puffs, I recommend it. Plus, it's a movie you can watch with younger siblings, or even your parents-make it a family movie night.
IMDb's summary of this movie says: "When Karen the Computer decides to take over the world, it's up to Plankton to stop her - with a little help from SpongeBob and the Gal Pals (Pearl, Sandy, and Mrs. Puff)."

Trap (2024)
Maturity Rating: PG-13
Movie
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Imagine you go to a pop concert, and the next thing you realize, a serial killer is on the loose, and traps you in the arena. That's basically the plot of Trap. A father realizes this while with his daughter at the concert, and I'm afraid I can't say much more. One thing to note is that this is a psychological thriller, so be warned if that's not your forte.

The Potato Lab
Maturity Rating: TV-14
TV Show
Genre: Romance Comedy
"Set in a mountain valley at a potato research center, the series is about a woman named Kim Mi-kyung, a potato-crazy researcher who is starting a fresh life again, and So Baek-ho, who energizes her fighting spirit." - Wikipedia
The Potato Lab is releasing new episodes periodically, with the full schedule found here. So far, there's 8 available. I highly recommend this show, mostly because watching show with continously releasing episodes, keeps the excitement of waiting for it to release, without having to wait too long (I'm looking at you, Stranger Things and Wednesday!)

XO, Kitty
Maturity Rating: PG-14
TV Show
Genre: Romance/Comedy/Drama
XO Kitty is a spin off of the To All The Boys I've Loved Before series, and it's actually the first Netflix TV series to be spun off from a Netflix movie. It has a large fan base, with the #xokitty tag on TikTok racking up 152.6k posts. And that's just one platform!

Kitty is a junior that gets a scholarship to go to KISS, or the Korean Independent School of Seoul. She's estatic, especially because her boyfriend Dae attends KISS. However, when she gets there, she quickly learns her boyfriend, Dae, is with another girl named Yuri.
However, Dae and Yuri's relationship isn't what she thinks it is. Did I get you hooked yet? Hope so. If you liked Never Have I Ever or Ginny and Georgia, then XO Kitty is a must watch.
But The Show Isn't Over...
If some of these aren't usually the genre you watch, I'd still recommend them (it's always great to try something out). I hope you found your next favorite show, so keep on watching!
