1. Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011)

I absolutely love the unpredictable nature of this movie which it maintains until the very end. Looks and charm can often be deceiving. If you ever see Ricky Bahl (played by Ranveer Singh), you can't help but fall for him.

However, beware! His lovers (or shall I say victims?) will show you the reason once you see the movie.

My fellow teens, if you want to know how to spot the red flags, or how to plan a revenge, then this movie is for you. The storyline is unique and I promise that this movie will stick with you for a long time. Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is a perfect all round entertainer, and it'll keep you hooked on the edge of your seat till the climax. (Pro Tip: if you see any movie with Ranveer Singh in it, just watch it.)

Let's match you with an Indian city that you would love!

2. Hasee Toh Phasee (2014)

The title of the movie loosely translates to “If she smiles, she’s yours”. The movie has an unconventional storyline. The characters have their own set of challenges.

My favourite thing about this movie is that you can actually relate to the characters. Hasee Toh Phasee beautifully portrays the mental challenges faced by the female lead and the societal stigma against it. Nikhil (played by Siddharth Malhotra) is a struggling businessman who wants to tie the knot with his girlfriend. This seemingly simple situation gets complicated when... oops! You'll have to witness the drama for yourself. I can give you a hint though... The girlfriend in question is not the main female lead. The female lead is played by one of my favourite actresses, Parineeti Chopra.

The duo has a refreshing, unique and very sweet chemistry that will make you root for them against all odds. You'll enjoy the movie thoroughly as the plot unfolds. It beautifully combines traditional familial and societal expectations with a modern youthful take on romance. Ps. — I love the song “Ishq Bulaava” from this movie.

3. Vicky Donor (2012)

This was the first movie of Ayushmann Khurrana. And he succeeded in winning the hearts of all Indians through it. If you haven't laughed since a long time, Vicky Donor is the perfect movie for you. I won't reveal much, but I guarantee you that you have never seen a movie with such a unique concept before.

Vicky Donor stands out for handling an extremely taboo topic with a brilliant sense of humour. It packs the entire concept with a powerful social message, and a very sweet multi cultural romance. The movie is even more special to me because the culture I belong to, is represented by the main female character in the movie! (smiley emojis) Fun fact: The song “Pani da Rang” from this movie is probably the first song that every Indian learns to play after getting a guitar.

4. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

How can I not include atleast a single movie with Shah Rukh Khan in it? The title translates to “A match made in heaven”. As a huge SRK fan since childhood, it was difficult to eliminate the other choices.

His charm is undeniable. But in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, his character Surinder does not seem very charming or conventionally attractive. To win over his own wife, he disguises himself as Raj who eventually becomes her dance partner. Tani (played by Anushka Sharma) has no idea that Raj is her own husband — Surinder.

Surinder’s dedication towards his love will have you wishing for a similar kind of partnership. Will she choose Raj or Surinder? And will she ever get to see the truth behind this facade?

You'll have to watch the movie to find out. The gripping narration and engaging plot will have you hooked. The soundtrack is simply lovely as well.

5. Main Hoon Na (2004)

Any list of Bollywood films is incomplete without Shah Rukh Khan. And a good list has more than one movie of SRK in it. The title translates to “I am here” with a tone of friendly assurance.

If you can't decide whether you are in the mood to watch action, drama, comedy or romance, this is the perfect movie for you. I love how this movie has every single flavor in it without the elements getting tangled in a messy way. Miss Universe (1994) – Sushmita Sen graced this movie with her presence.

Main Hoon Na provides you with a taste of everything. You'll find college romance, a makeover, an undercover agent, a full fledged mission, a few other romance angles here and there, a nationalist message along with a message of unity at the international border, some family drama, origin stories — and what not! This movie is the complete package and will keep you entertained throughout.

So, the next time you feel like you are out of rom-coms to watch, don't forget that Bollywood says — Main Hoon Na!
