1. Play card games

Got a deck of cards? That will keep you busy for a while! A deck of cards allows a plethora of fun games that you can play with your family and friends that are stuck in the power outage too.

Some games include poker, black jack, hearts and spades, solitaire, and many more. You can also release your creative energy to make your own card games to play! Card games are fast paced, fun, and can get your mind off of what is happening around you. It is also a great activity to spend time with your friends and family during the power outage.

2. Organize your workspace

Though there might not be enough light, it would not hurt to re-organize small parts of your house. This can be revamping your closet's mess, cleaning out your backpacks, organizing your desk, and much more. Cleaning out old things from your house can take a large chunk of time, so why not just do it when you have no power and cannot complete many goals?

This will help you stay productive and not feel like you are behind. When the outage is over, it will reveal a newly cleaned house!

3. Go on a walk

When your power is out, take this as a message to take a break and go outside! These days, we are always stuck to our computers to catch up on the work we are missing, but when there is no power, we cannot work on our computers. This means you should definitely make up the time you did not get to spend outside to do so during this time. Of course, do not leave your house when the winds are strong, but during the aftermaths of the outage, it is a good time to get some needed fresh air.

4. Exercise

While taking a walk might have weather restrictions, you can easily exercise inside your house. Whether you have gym equipment, or just want to stretch out from days of stress and work, you can do any sort of exercise you see fit. Make sure that you have enough light so that you can see where you are going, and not trip over invisible objects.

5. Read a book

Nothing is better than reading a good book in your free time. Books naturally do not require electricity, and you can read by light sources like candlelight, a flashlight, or other non-plugged in light source. Reading can make time pass quickly, and you will not notice how long the power is out for. If you do not have books at home, you could tell stories with your friends and family to pass time.
