Even before heading to the airport, be sure you have all of your flight QR codes, check-in numbers, boarding passes, and any other vital documents downloaded to your phone. They should also be organized in a section where you can easily find them. Airports can be hectic, and you never know when you will need to whip out your confirmation email in the case of a mishap.
Downloading your airline's app and checking in online will also limit the processes you'll have to go through in the future. Plus, you should make sure to prepare the correct identification, such as your passport, driver's license, or visa. This will be beneficial and help you save time.

2. Plan Your Time
It's also important you leave time to arrive at the airport, as traffic and rush hours of your transportation method can easily cut into your time. Therefore, take note of the amount of time it will take you to get to the airport so you are not in a rush to get to your gate.
It is a good idea to plan to arrive at least two and a half hours before your boarding time. (However, for international flights, it is recommended you arrive around three hours early.) This will leave you with time for busy security checks, gate changes, and other mishaps. Plus, if you are checking in luggage, make sure you leave time for waiting in line if it is a busy airport.

3. Be Smart About What You Pack in Your Carry-on
Going through security screening can be one of the most stressful parts of your airport experience. To make this easier, be sure to check the size limits of liquids and place all liquids in a plastic bag to save time. You should also bring a plastic bag for your electronics because it keeps them clean and protected from potential damage.
Relating to that, make sure you put all your electronics and liquids in accessible places so you can efficiently remove them and repack them. Bringing a reusable water bottle or remembering to empty it before going through security can also save a lot of time. After screening, there is always a bathroom nearby where you can refill your water bottle.

4. Dress for Comfort
Airports usually aren't clean, plus you tend to move around a lot when transferring from gate to gate. That is why dressing comfortably will significantly improve your experience when traveling by air. After all, sitting on an airplane for several hours is not comfortable if you are not dressed in something cozy.
Thus, you should wear loose layers as you can quickly take them off if the temperature difference is dramatic at your destination or put on a jacket if you feel chilly. Also, make sure you pick shoes that are easy to take on and off during security screening, and avoid too many accessories (especially belts!) because you will have to remove them at security and have a higher risk of losing them.

5. Prepare Entertainment
Especially if you are on a domestic or shorter flight, it is recommended that you prepare your own entertainment. Often, there will not be a built-in television aboard the plane, or you will have to separately purchase internet in-flight. So, if you have preferences about your entertainment, make sure to download your books, audiobooks, music, and movies before you leave for your trip.
Bringing headphones or earbuds is another great choice. Along with that, remember to bring a portable charger and wires in case your phone or electronic device runs out of battery.

6. Remember Your Portable Charger
Connecting to the previous point, portable chargers can be game-changers for your travel experience. You no longer need to stress when your battery drops too low because you will have a charger on you! Though most airports have charging stations, bringing your own portable charger is a good idea.
Make sure to put it in a place where you can pull it out quickly, and remember to keep your charging wire attached. If your phone is compatible with magnetic portable chargers, they will certainly limit the amount of hassle you experience with this gadget.

7. Bring Snacks
We all know that airport food isn't appetizing for everyone. If the flight you end up on has something you cannot eat due to dietary restrictions, it is better to avoid it and bring some snacks yourself. Since airport food also tends to stray on the overpriced side of the spectrum, packing snacks from home in a plastic bag will save you money and an extra hassle. Foods like dried fruits, nuts, protein bars, crackers, or anything that is dry and does not crumble easily are perfect snack options.

8. Bring Airplane Accessories
Airplane accessories can also make a difference in your comfort during your flight. While airlines usually offer a pillow and blanket (and sometimes eye masks and earplugs), I still recommend you bring additional items for maximum comfort. Neck pillows, eye masks, and ear plugs can help you fall asleep more pleasantly and make it easier for you to sleep in an upright position. Blankets and compression socks are also helpful accessories to bring on the plane to keep you warm and cozy during your flight.

9. Check Your Flight Status Often
You should also always make sure to check your flight information on both the airport screens and your phone. Sometimes information can be delayed from the airport to online sources, so keep in mind that the airport's large screen is usually the most accurate. This information can also be accessed through your airline app.
After exiting security, check if your gate is out yet or when it will be out. Setting a timer to remind yourself to check the screens can be helpful. Sometimes gates can change at the last minute, or boarding time starts early; it is best to stay in the know!

10. Stay Calm
Finally, you need to stay calm. Most airport experiences go smoothly, and there is always staff around the airport to help you if you get lost or have a question. Staying calm will help you make decisions with a clear mind, ensure your safety when you are aware of your surroundings, and solve problems smartly based on your current environment.
Don't forget that traveling should be an exciting experience, and enjoy your trip. Just remember to breathe, and your journey will go smoothly!
